We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

Welcome to Schoolhouse Alpacas.  We raise our animals on 34 acres in the gently rolling hills of South Central Indiana.  Our farm is an older farm named after the historic schoolhouse in which we live.  We come to alpaca farming from diverse backgrounds. David works in municipal water distribution and Karen is involved in education at the elementary level.

We have a lovely herd of huacaya alpacas.  We are concentrating on breeding for the qualities we see as necessary in the future fleece market:  density with softness.  We have many award-winning bloodlines and select our own and outside males for breeding.  Our females are chosen with an eye to mothering ability and milk production as well as physical soundness for a long and productive life.

We enjoy sharing our knowledge of the animals with visitors.  Please contact us if you or your group would like to see our farm.  Whether you’re just curious or seriously considering investing in alpacas- we would like to meet you.

Please send us your address and we’ll mail you a handy pamphlet about these amazing fleece animals!

We are proud members of the Indiana Alpaca Association.

We will be showing at the Inaugural Heartland Classic Alpaca Show in Indianapolis , Indiana , the first weekend of October, 2008.  Please contact us for more information about this show!
